Thank you, come again!

I hope everyone has been enjoying the pictures I've been posting for the past month or so. I hope to get back to blogging more regularly in another month or so and am hoping to be feeling even better by then. So, feel free to enjoy and comment on the pictures and such. I answer all comments, it may just take me a few days since I usually post pictures via my iPhone and then respond to comments whenever I am on the blog via computer which is not all that often these days.

If you have Facebook, look for me there since I can do that much easier on the iPhone then I can on the blog as there's a custom applet for it. I'm on Facebook as Chris Falco.

Picture Of The Day

One of the corridors at the local mall. We went there Tuesday to get sneakers for Danielle and I had planned to get her and Scott dinner at the food court afterward. Imagine our surprise when we found "Do not cross Police line" tape across the entrance and the place soaked while the shop owners mopped up their stalls. Turns out there had been a small fire while we were shopping.

Picture Of The Day

To Sleep, Perchance to Dream (Weirdly!)

I had such a weird dream last night I could not resist posting it.

It started off with me hanging out with a woman named Donna who worked where I worked at CONRAC before we became Smiths Industries, and later she worked for me. This was back in Florham Park New Jersey. So, in this dream I am hanging out with her and her husband who I never met in real life. In real life he is named Chris, and in the dream he was no one I ever remember seeing.

We were having a great time sharing some drinks, laughing, and talking about old times.

That in itself was weird, because Donna and I never were friendly and rarely talked outside the job specifics. She was a hard worker and really knew her stuff, but, that was it. No 'old times' to talk of for sure!

So, as I said the three of us were having a good time and I realized it was late and that it was time for me to head home. They asked if they could come too. "We'll have a sleep over!" they declared! "Call your wife and ask if it's OK!!" So, I called Debby, not remembering in the dream that we are divorced and asked her. She said fine, and we headed over to my dream house as it were.

The house was no house Debby and I ever lived in...and then all of a sudden Donna and her husband Chris were gone and Debby and were alone in the dimly lit bedroom.

OK, time out here all of you who have your mind in the gutter, expecting some king of mad sex scene between me and the X wife! Take a deep breath or a cold shower. It just ain't going to happen! This is a blog that kids read for goodness sake!!!

And in reality, while I do dream of her on a regular basis, and while I still do have feelings for her, strangely enough my dreams of her have never gone down that road before.....go figure! The dreams are usually very mundane where she and I along with the three kids are together as a family, happily doing things together. In almost all of them I do not remember we are married, and afterward I am always a little blue upon waking. In this case, as you'll read below, I was just flabbergasted!

So, in the bedroom Debby was going through a box of my dad's stuff that I brought back from NJ last summer after he passed away. She reached in and came out with a pair of boxer shorts.

"What the hell are you going to do with your father's shorts?" She asked. I explained I was going to use it as a skirt for a lamp to diffuse the light and make it more subdued.

"That's just stupid!" she said. "How will you be able to turn it on and off then?"

I replied with "You could reach through the fly for that!"

She laughed mightily at that, and then said there was no way we'd have a lamp like that in our house and she threw the pair of shorts in the garbage.

At the point the dream shifted and I moved onto another weird dream that did not feature anyone I knew....and as I only remember fragments......my story ends there.

My reaction when I woke was what the heck is up with that????

Quote of the Day

Well, proverb actually! This was today's quote of the day from the feed I use on my blog, and I really liked this one!

One of life's greatest mysteries is how the boy who wasn't
good enough to marry your daughter can be the father
of the smartest grandchild in the world.

The Day After Mother's Day

Chicken and Shrimp Kabobs

Yesterday was Mother's Day and I offered to host a dinner for the X, our kids, and the X's parents, who to me will always be Mom and Dad.

My goal was to make an excellent meal worthy of my culinary acumen, and stay within my budgeted calories for the day. Of course, I also wanted everyone to enjoy themselves!

I started preparing Saturday night cutting skinless chicken breast and marinating it overnight in a mildly spicy southwestern style marinate. I also processed jumbo shrimp in this manner.

I made a mixture of 92% ground beef and ground round, plus some spices and shaped 8 nice 5 ounce burgers and these too were refrigerated.

I then cut and sliced 2 quarts of Strawberries and put them in the fridge with a cup of Splenda. Smaller portions of Blueberries and Red Raspberries were bagged with Splenda as well.

Sunday morning after a 12 mile 70 minute workout on the exercise bike, I got cleaned up and began making Kabobs. I cut up onions and red pepper, and along with cherry tomatoes and small button mushrooms I built the Kabobs pictured above. It took about 90 minutes to make a total of 12.

I made a nice salad with cucumbers, lettuce, onions, and tomato, and I baked corn on the cob, which I prefer to boiling. I sliced onions and tomato for the burgers, and plastic wrapped these plates and left them in the fridge.

We all sat down and had an excellent meal of the Kabobs and about an hour later I made a round of Cheeseburgers, grilling onions on the grill at the request of the X and her folks.

For dessert I mixed the berries and served them with sugar free cool whip. For those not watching their weight there was also whipped cream and Ice cream.

Everyone enjoyed the food and had a great day. After every left except for Scott and Danielle, Danielle and I enjoyed an hour of Left 4 Dead on expert mode.....fun stuff!

On and off during the day, I kept thinking of my Mom, and how much I missed her. I tried to dwell on happy childhood memories of her which helped. Hard to believe she has been gone for 18 years!

The X sent me an e-mail this morning thanking me for such a nice Mother's Day, which really made my day.

Picture of the Day - Happy Mother's Day

Mothers are the glue that holds a family together. For those of you who are lucky enough to still have their Mom in their life, make this day extra special for her, and make every other day special for Mom as well. For those who have lost their Mom, remember them fondly this day, as I shall do!
