A Merry Christmas to All!!

Christmas 1999.
Myself, my dad, my brother Rick
Danielle, Scott, and Christopher.

I really miss my dad this Christmas!

There's so many ways to speak of Christmas, the happiness, the giving, the joy, the love.....rather than use my own inadequate words, I'd like to share two quotations from two classics which sum up Christmas for me and I hope you enjoy them..

The first is from Charles Dickens 'A Christmas Carol' and it is spoke by Scrooge's nephew Fred:

"There are many things from which I might have derived good, by which I have not profited, I dare say, Christmas among the rest. But I am sure I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has come round -- apart from the veneration due to its sacred name and origin, if anything belonging to it can be apart from that -- as a good time: a kind, forgiving, charitable, pleasant time: the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow-passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys. And therefore, uncle, though it has never put a scrap of gold or silver in my pocket, I believe that it has done me good, and will do me good; and I say, God bless it!"

The second is from A Charlie Brown Christmas, and is said by Linus, after Charlie Brown shouts out "Isn't there anyone here who knows what Christmas is all about!??"

"And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, 'Fear not: for behold, I bring unto you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.' And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.'"
[Linus picks up his blanket and walks back towards Charlie Brown]
"That's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown.

While Christmas has not been quite the same for me since my divorce, I truly believe in the spirit and sharing around Christmas! From the kids and I we wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas. Our best wishes for a happy and safe holiday and a joyous and prosperous New Year!
